Occ Summary
Co ordinate and participate in a variety ofduties associated withdaily clin ic preparation process, patient identification, patient checkin/out, cha rge posting, cash management and patient appointmentscheduling. Position also involves customer service, messagedistribution, ancillary scheduli ng and preparation and referralsmanagement.
Work Performed
Prepare for clinic visits by reviewing nextday patients andcomp leting next day preparation activities.Enter pre-visit orders andprepare new patient charts. Pick up X-rays, office charts, medicalrecords, repo rts, petty cash and collections bag.File history sheets,ancillary repor ts and all other required patient record documentation.Return medical re cords. Attach HIPPA/Medicare documentsto theencounter forms.Check-in pat ient upon arrival in the practice. Identify correct patientinformation in Maestro Care. Verify patient demographic data. EditMaestro Care as ne eded. Accurately identify the appropriate accountfor patient visit. Pres ent and educate patients on required forms andobtain signature as requir ed by policy and procedure. CompletesallMaestro Care check-in files and manage all appropriate alerts. Collectand post co-payments and balances on accounts due. Imprint all patientspecific chart documents and requisi tion/transmittal documents. Copy,fileand distribute insurance cards as i ndicated by procedure.Coordinate alllabs/procedures as requested. Mainta in private physicianoffice charts.Prepare encounter forms. Investigate a nd account for missing encounterforms. Audit encounter forms for complet eness and accuracy beforebatching.Batches encounter forms or charge post ing in Maestro Care.Schedule testsand procedures. Complete and distribut eancillary service requisitions.Explain billing to patientsaccording to PRMO credit and collection policies. Determine the amountof cash to be c ollected based on insurance plan.Check-outpatients. Make return appointm ents by scheduling patients intoring physician and scheduling tests and procedures.Answer telephone, takthecorrect appointment type, entering th e primary care physician orrefere and deliver messages to physicians, nu rses andothers. Report obtainedmedical information from patients and ref erringphysicians accurately, completely and timely. Disseminate messages according to practice communication standards

Strong verbal and written communication. Bas ic PC and data entryskills. Knowledge of medical terminology and telepho ne etiquette.Demonstrated abilityto organize and prioritize work, provid e oral andwritten instructions,interact tactfully with customers and est ablishand maintain effective relationships with others. Education
Level I -- Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred. High school or GED graduationrequired. Level II -- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school orGED graduation required. Level III -- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required. Level IV -- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required.
Experience
Level I -- No experience required. Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. Level III -- 2 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. Level IV -- 3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. Note: 1 year of experience will be provided for an Associate degree in Medical Assisting. General Ladder Statement: In addition to the education and experience noted, applicants must meet all requirements set forth in the Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA/RMA) Ladder Program document for Levels II, III, and IV.
